It is time to start preparing for the coming school year. This year I am preparing for Pre-K, elementary school, junior high, and college. So I decided that in honor of the back to school season, I will kick of Everyday Life Reviews with some education related reviews. If you are looking for a way to help pay for college, pay down student loans, or for a really unique back to school idea, then pay attention to my opening reviews. And if you’re not looking for any of these things, check it out anyways because I will be sharing some interesting stuff with all of you over the next few days. And be sure to tell me if you have anything to add that people should know about, I’m always open to suggestions.
Happy Back to Schoolin’!

Back to school time for me always gives me a moment to pause and to realize just where I am, my kids are, and my husband is in our lives. So much happens during the course of the school year, and summer takes on a life of its own (since when does 2 1/2 months go by in a week?), but in the last week or two of summer as you look to go through last years close and realize they have all been outgrown, find out that the styles kids loved last year are now lame, and that they no longer need crayon and colored pencils, but now need graph paper and college ruled paper.
The biggest shock always comes on the first day of school when the child who always wanted to you walk them to their class the first day, jumps out of the car and takes off to great friends and never even waves good-bye.
One of my daughters commented the other day about how she is but isn’t ready for her 2 1/2 year old to start pre-school, she just isn’t ready to let go. At that moment as I started to say something comforting, I realized that being a mom is about not wanting to let go throughout our children’s life whether its of to pre-school, to camp, to college, to marriage, to their own parenthood. But, what a thrill it is to watch them grow and move forward each and every day.
I have learned the greatest gift I can give my children is to let go and let them walk the path called life themselves and make it their own, not a continuation of yours. For that lesson I have to thank my children because they are the ones that have taught me the greatest, yet toughest lesson of my life.
